I captured this image of a reddish egret as it was wading in shallow water at Thousand Islands National Park near Everglades City in southern Florida. The egret was raising its wings as it was wading through the water trying to find fish to eat. It appeared as though the act of raising its wings helped the egret catch fish.
George Harth lives in Medina, OH, and spends the winters painting in Bonita Springs, FL. He began painting watercolors during high school in Leavenworth, Kansas. George started developing his love of art, at the age of thirteen, while taking private drawing lessons. He grew into watercolor painting and experienced early success. At the age of fifteen, George placed first in the Leavenworth Annual Art Exhibit of 1960.
