This photo was taken at Ten Thousand Islands National Park in the Florida everglades, just east of Marco Island. The reddish egret was wadding and searching for fish to eat. It would raise its wings in a very aggressive posture in an attempt to cause the fish to startle and become vulnerable to his attack. It seemed to work as the bird was catching lots of fish.
George Harth lives in Medina, OH, and spends the winters painting in Bonita Springs, FL. He began painting watercolors during high school in Leavenworth, Kansas. George started developing his love of art, at the age of thirteen, while taking private drawing lessons. He grew into watercolor painting and experienced early success. At the age of fifteen, George placed first in the Leavenworth Annual Art Exhibit of 1960. George has been called a Renaissance Man by many of his acquaintances because of his many interests and talents which include writing, photography, painting, and an occasional invention.
