Artist's Description

This portrait was a real challenge in texture. There is satin cloth, fur, hair, feathers, felt, and lace, and metal and crystal jewelry (ear ring) plus human skin. Wow! How to do all of those in one portrait, and make it look pleasing and recognizable. I am not looking for photorealism in my art, but I want to show textures that please the eye and convince the viewer that they are looking at fur or lace or satin or feathers. Did I pull it off for you? I hope so.

George Harth

George Harth lives in Medina, OH, and spends the winters painting in Bonita Springs, FL. He began painting watercolors during high school in Leavenworth, Kansas. George started developing his love of art, at the age of thirteen, while taking private drawing lessons. He grew into watercolor painting and experienced early success. At the age of fifteen, George placed first in the Leavenworth Annual Art Exhibit of 1960. George has been called a Renaissance Man by many of his acquaintances because of his many interests and talents which include writing, photography, painting, and an occasional invention.
